Before you begin
Before jumping into pairing, make sure the shade itself is working. Use the remote and confirm it goes up and down. This tells you the shade is powered and ready, and that you’re in the right place to troubleshoot pairing.
If the shade does not respond to the remote, plug it in with a USB-C cable to charge it, then try again before continuing.
Once the shade is responding, the issue is likely with the connection, not the hardware.
1) Ensure the shade is updated with the latest Matter-certified firmware. See details here.
2) Reset network settings for the shade.
If the shade was previously connected to a Thread network, that information is stored in the shade and will prevent the shade from going into Matter pairing mode.
Press and hold NWK button on shade
Release after you see a solid amber light
3) Delete shade from any mobile app (Mado Home, Google Home, Apple Home, Alexa) that may have been used in a previous attempt to setup the shade
4) iPhone users check if shade shows up in Settings > General > Matter Accessories. Delete it to start afresh.
5) Restart your phone
5) Connect shades to your Home hub.
Verify that your phone and Smart Home hub are on the same WiFi network
Verify that your Smart home hub is Thread-enabled. Does it match one of the models in the Thread Border Router (TBR) list (see link)?
Verify that your Smart Home hub is already setup on your home network. Follow the instructions provided by the hub manufacturer.
Phone, shade and smart-home hub (TBR) are close to one another. If the TBR is in a different room or far away, consider installing another one or a Thread router (to extend its range) in the same room as the shade. (add a web-page listing Thread routers for extending range of the smart-home hub, and link it here. Here is some content for that web-page )
If your smart home hub is one from Apple, follow steps described in ___ (link to article for adding shades directly to Mado Home)
In the above process, make sure you are scanning the QR code that is printed on the bottom of the shade
If your smart home hub is not from Apple (for instance, Google Nest, Amazon Echo or Eero, Samsung etc.), then follow steps described in ___ (link to article for adding shades first to appropriate 3rd party app such as Google Home, Alexa, Samsung Smart Things, then sharing a numeric pairing code from that app to add the Shade to Mado Home)
SmartThings for Samsung SmartThings Hub / Station
In the above process, make sure that you are accurately typing or copying the numeric pairing code.
Still not working?
At this point, you’ve gone through the most common causes.
Try temporarily disabling a VPN if you are using one
