Troubleshooting problems connecting your C-Series motorized shade to Alexa

If your C-Series motorized shade does not appear in Alexa or pairing does not complete, follow these steps to resolve common connection issues.

You can connect your C-Series motorized shade to Alexa using Matter, but only after the shade has been set up in the Mado Home app.

If Alexa cannot find your shade or pairing fails, the issue is usually related to setup order, network conditions, or an existing Matter connection. The steps below walk through the most common causes.

Confirm your shade is set up in the Mado Home app

Before connecting to Alexa, the shade must first be added in the Mado Home app.

If the shade is not visible in the Mado Home app:

  • complete setup in the Mado Home app first

  • confirm the shade is powered on and responsive

  • stay near the shade during setup

Once the shade appears in the Mado Home app, return to Alexa and try pairing again.

Make sure your Echo device supports Matter

Not all Echo devices support Matter.

Check that:

  • your Echo device is Matter-compatible

  • your Alexa app is up to date

  • your Echo device is running the latest software

After confirming this, restart the Alexa app and try again.

Confirm your phone and Alexa device are on the same network

Your phone and Alexa device must be on the same Wi-Fi network during setup.

Check that:

  • Wi-Fi is enabled on your phone

  • your Echo device is online

  • both are connected to the same network

Once confirmed, restart the pairing process.

Move closer to the shade during pairing

If the shade cannot be found or pairing fails, distance is often the cause.

  • move closer to the shade

  • make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone

  • avoid switching apps during setup

Then try pairing again.

If the Matter QR code does not scan

If the QR code cannot be scanned:

  • confirm the code is clearly visible

  • increase lighting in the room

  • clean the label if needed

  • try entering the setup code manually

Then restart the pairing process.

If the shade is already connected to another platform

If your shade is already connected to Apple Home, Google Home, or another Matter platform, you will need to use a new pairing code.

  • open the platform where the shade is already connected

  • generate a new Matter pairing code

  • enter that code in the Alexa app

Then continue setup.

If the shade still does not connect

At this point, you have cleared the most common blockers.

Try restarting everything before attempting setup again:

  • restart the shade

  • restart your phone

  • restart your Echo device

  • close and reopen the Alexa app

Then repeat the setup steps.
