When to use TrueFit Anchors
TrueFit Anchors are optional and are not needed for most installations.
The TrueFit Bar is designed to hold itself in place through tension alone, and in most windows, that is all you need. Once the bar feels stable and evenly supported, there is nothing else required.
There are situations, however, where you may want something more fixed. The bar may feel slightly unsettled, the surface of the window frame may not provide consistent grip, or you may simply prefer an installation that feels more anchored and less dependent on pressure.
This is where the TrueFit Anchors come in. They give the ends of the bar a defined place to sit, turning a balanced fit into a fixed one.
Before you begin
Before installing the anchors, take a moment to confirm that the TrueFit Bar is already positioned exactly where you want it.
You will use the current placement of the bar as your reference, so this is the time to make any final adjustments. Once the anchors are installed, they will define that position going forward.
Choose how you want to install the anchors
TrueFit Anchors can be installed using adhesive dots or screws. Both options work. The difference comes down to how permanent you want the result to be.
Adhesive dots provide a no-drill option that is quick to install and easier to adjust later. This is the simplest way to add stability while keeping the installation flexible.
Screws create a more permanent installation by fixing the anchors directly to the frame. This is a better choice for uneven surfaces or if you want the bar to feel as fixed as possible.
If you are unsure, start with adhesive dots. You can always switch to screws later if you decide you want a more permanent result.
Step 1: Mark the position
With the TrueFit Bar installed, mark the position of each end on the window frame.
These marks do not need to be exact, but they should reflect where the bar naturally rests when it feels balanced. This is the position you want to preserve.
Step 2: Remove the TrueFit Bar
Carefully remove the TrueFit Bar from the window frame.
This can feel like a step backward, but it is part of the process. You are not starting over. You are preparing to make the current position more permanent.
Step 3: Prepare the TrueFit Anchors
Take the TrueFit Anchors included with your shade and prepare them based on your chosen installation method.
If you are using adhesive dots, attach one dot to the back of each anchor before placing them. If you are using screws, have them ready for installation once the anchors are positioned.
Step 4: Install the TrueFit Anchors
Place each anchor on the window frame where you made your marks.
Press firmly so they sit flat and hold their position. If you are using screws, secure the anchors directly to the frame.
At this stage, you are creating a defined resting point for the bar, so focus on keeping both sides aligned and evenly positioned.
Step 5: Reinstall the TrueFit Bar
Remove the rubber end caps from the TrueFit Bar, then extend and tighten the bar so the ends sit inside the installed anchors.
As you tighten it into place, you should feel the difference. The bar is no longer finding its position through pressure alone. It is settling into a position that has already been defined.
What to expect
Once installed, the TrueFit Anchors reduce movement and make the position of the TrueFit Bar more fixed over time.
The shade will continue to operate in the same way, but the foundation beneath it will feel more consistent. This is less about changing how the system works and more about changing how it feels in your space.
