What the mounting guides are for
They show you how much room you’ll need around the bar because they mirror the size of the shade’s headrails. They remove the guesswork of exact placement. These are temporary and must be removed prior to adding the shade.
Mounting guides are temporary alignment tools that make installation more accurate and predictable. They’re helpful because they show the exact height and depth dimensions of the shade that you’ll later clip to the TrueFit Bar™–in other words, how much room you need around the bar for the full shade to fit.
They do not support the shade and must be removed before clicking the shade into place. Their role is to help you get placement right on the first try.
How and when to use the mounting guides
Use the mounting guides between the Extend step and Lock step.
Your TrueFit Bar should already fit snugly and securely inside the window frame yet still be nudgeable.
Clip a mounting guide to each end of the bar, to rest against the window frame. The pointy ends should point upwards.
Nudge the TrueFit Bar to your preferred aesthetics, keeping in mind that the mounting guides show how much room you need around the bar, for the shade's final fit (height and depth). For example, you may wish to nudge the bar such that the mounting guides are at the top and front of the window frame. You may also wish to use the included magnetic level at this step.
Once you’re satisfied with the TrueFit Bar placement, proceed to the Lock step, using the included wrench.
After locking, remove the mounting clips.
NOTE: Failure to remove the mounting clips can cause damage to the shade fabric.
What they help ensure
Using the mounting guides helps ensure that the TrueFit Bar™ is:
positioned at the correct height
positioned at your preferred depth
level across the window (you can confirm this with the included magnetic level)
evenly aligned on both sides
placed correctly before locking the TrueFit Bar
They reduce the likelihood of needing to loosen and reposition the TrueFit Bar™ after installation.
Why placement matters
Accurate placement affects both how the shade looks and how it performs.
A properly positioned TrueFit Bar™ helps the shade sit evenly within the frame, operate smoothly, and maintain consistent tension. Small misalignments can lead to uneven movement or a visually off-center result.
Mounting guides help avoid these issues by making correct placement straightforward from the beginning.
Designed for a smoother install
Mounting guides are part of a broader approach to simplifying installation.
Instead of requiring precise measurements or multiple adjustments, they provide a simple way to align the TrueFit Bar™ quickly and confidently. They reduce guesswork and make the process more repeatable across different window sizes.
They are used briefly, but they play an important role in achieving a clean, professional result.
