Before you begin

Mounting guides are temporary tools that attach to the ends of the TrueFit Bar while performing an “in-frame” installation. During installation, they rest against the window frame to help you position the bar at the correct height, keep it level, and center it before tightening. They are only used during installation and are removed once the bar is secure.

Make sure:

your window opening is clear
your TrueFit Bar is ready to install
the mounting guides are attached to the TrueFit Bar
you have the included wrench

Before using the mounting guides, extend the TrueFit Bar to the correct width for your window and hand-tighten (“twist-lock”) it so it holds that size securely. You will use the mounting guides during final placement and tightening.

Things to consider before you begin

To ensure optimal performance, energy efficiency, and visual appeal, keep these key alignment guidelines in mind:

In-Frame Mount Feasibility: Ensure your window frame has enough depth. More than half of the TrueFit Bar's end-face must rest inside the window frame.
Top Frame Spacing: Position the bar as high as possible to minimize light gaps. The guides automatically provide enough clearance for final shade assembly.
Maximum Inset: For better energy efficiency, push the guides to the back of the frame to minimize the air gap between the glass and the shade.
Flush Appearance: For a clean, integrated look, pull the guides forward until they sit flush with the front of the frame.

1) Position and align the TrueFit Bar

Attach the mounting guides to the TrueFit Bar
Ensure the TrueFit bar has been “twist locked” so that its width aligns with the inside walls of the window frame.
Ensure the screw lock on the TrueFit bar is fully retracted.
Place the TrueFit Bar inside the window frame.
Rest the mounting guides against the edges of the frame

The guides automatically establish the correct height and help keep the TrueFit Bar level and centered. Take a moment here to adjust the depth or flushness based on your energy or cosmetic preferences before proceeding.

Fig 1a ____________________________ Fig 1b	In-Frame Mount Feasibility Push the TrueFit Bar with installed guides flush against the back of your window frame. Proceed with in-frame mount: If more than half of the bar’s end section sits inside the frame (Fig 1a). Use wall mount instead: If less than half sits inside the frame (Fig 1b), use the included wall-mount brackets.
Fig 2	Top-frame Spacing Push the mounting guides fully upward on both ends of the TrueFit Bar until they stop. This ensures proper clearance at the top of the window to prevent light gaps. Exception: Skip this step if you are intentionally mounting the shade lower for privacy and prefer a top gap.
Fig 3a Fig 3b	Maximum inset Push the mounting guides in as far back as possible till it makes contact with the back surface of the window frame. This minimizes the air volume between the shade and the window, and will give you the best heating and cooling energy savings.
Fig 4a Fig 4b	Flush appearance (front) For deep window frames, consider pulling the mounting guides forward until they sit flush with the front edge. This ensures the fully installed shade aligns flush with the frame for a clean, integrated look.

2) Tighten the TrueFit Bar

While the mounting guides are still in place, use the included wrench to fully tighten the screw-lock on the TrueFit Bar.
The TrueFit Bar should feel stable and firmly seated.

3) Remove the mounting guides

Once the TrueFit Bar is fully tightened and secure, remove the mounting guides.

Do not leave the mounting guides attached after installation.

Confirm placement

Check that the TrueFit Bar is level.
Make sure it is centered in the frame.
Confirm it feels secure.

Once complete, continue with the rest of the installation.
