Before you begin
Make sure you have:
your shade
the PerfectTrim Tool
your fit number from the TrueFit Bar™
a flat, stable work surface
Trim the shade before installing it.
Take a moment to prepare your workspace and confirm your fit number before making any cuts. Keep the PerfectTrim Tool straight while cutting and avoid cutting at an angle. Follow your fit number carefully and trim both ends as required. Do not assume only one side needs to be trimmed.
Step 1: Find your fit number
Place the TrueFit Bar™ inside your window frame.
Extend it until both ends touch the inside edges.
Look at the point where the two sections of the bar meet.
The correct number is the one at the seam where the two pieces meet, not the number next to the clear plastic edge.
In the example above, the fit number is 62. If the measurement falls between numbers, round UP to the nearest whole number.
This is your fit number.
Step 2: Prepare the shade for trimming
Place the shade on a flat surface.
Position it so the end you are trimming is accessible.
Make sure the material is lying flat and stable.
Step 3: Make a test cut
Before making your final cut, make a small test cut to confirm placement.
Place the PerfectTrim Tool onto the shade.
Make a small cut at a number slightly larger than your fit number.
This lets you confirm alignment and positioning before trimming to the final size.
Step 4: Trim the shade
Align the PerfectTrim Tool to your fit number.
Keep the tool straight and fully seated.
Press down firmly and trim in one smooth motion.
Repeat the same cut on the other end of the shade.
Remove the same amount from both sides so the shade stays centered and even.
For best results, stand over the tool and use steady downward pressure.
Step 5: Check the fit
Hold the trimmed shade inside the window frame.
Check that it fits cleanly from side to side without forcing it in.
If the shade feels too tight or does not sit easily in the frame, trim a small amount from both ends and check again.
