The Mado remote gives you a simple, reliable way to control your C-Series motorized shades without needing a phone, app, or smart home platform. It is powered by a replaceable battery, so you can continue using it over time without replacing the remote itself.
It is included so you can operate your shades right out of the box, complete setup steps, and always have a direct control option available. It is especially useful during installation, when adjusting limits, or anytime you want to control your shades quickly without opening an app.
How the remote works
The Mado remote is designed to be simple to use in everyday situations.
The Center button is the primary control and works much like a garage door opener:
press once to start lowering the shade
press again to stop
press once more to raise the shade
This allows you to control the full movement of the shade with a single button.
The Up and Down buttons are available when you want to move the shade in a specific direction.
What the remote can do
You can use the remote to:
raise or lower a shade
stop a shade at any position
adjust shade travel limits during setup
The remote provides direct control without depending on your phone or home network.
How the buttons behave during setup
During normal use, the remote is designed to be simple and consistent. Pressing the Up or Down button will move the shade to its limit.
When setting limits, the buttons provide more precise control:
press and hold to move the shade continuously
short press to move the shade in small increments
This allows you to fine-tune the exact stopping position during setup.
Why the remote is included
The remote is included to make both setup and everyday use easier.
It gives you:
immediate control out of the box
a simple way to operate your shades without using the app
a reliable control option if the app is not connected
a useful tool for installation and limit adjustments
If your shade has not been fully set up and connected to a Thread-enabled home hub, the app may not be able to control it. This can happen even if you have used the app before for tasks like updating firmware.
Some newer phones, such as iPhone 15 and later, include Thread support and may be able to connect directly to the shade in certain situations. On Android, support varies by device, so you will need to check whether your phone supports Thread.
For reliable control, use the remote or connect your shade to a Thread-enabled home hub.
How the remote works with multiple shades
The Mado remote can be paired to control one shade or multiple shades.
You can pair one remote to control multiple shades, and you can also pair additional remotes to individual shades or smaller groups.
For example:
one remote can control all shades in a room
another remote can control a smaller group
separate remotes can control individual shades
If a remote is paired to multiple shades, those shades will respond together. To control shades separately, pair an additional remote to the individual shade or smaller group.
When to use the remote instead of the app
The remote is especially useful when:
operating the shade without a phone or app
making quick position adjustments
setting or adjusting travel limits
controlling the shade during installation
the shade is not currently connected to your home setup
Where to keep your remote so you don’t lose it
The Mado remote includes a mounting plate that allows you to keep it in a consistent place, such as on a wall near your window or in a central spot in the room.
The mounting plate can be attached using screws or the adhesive backing on the plate. This gives you flexibility depending on where you want to place it.
The mounting plate includes both screw holes and adhesive backing for flexible placement.
The remote snaps on and off the mounting plate, so you can leave it in place when not in use and remove it easily when you want to adjust your shades.
Keeping the remote on the mounting plate helps ensure it is always within reach and easy to find when you need it.
Important
If a remote is paired to multiple shades, all paired shades will respond at the same time. To control shades separately, pair an additional remote to the individual shade or smaller group.
